Best Big Cities for Jobs 2016: Nashville Ranks 4th

Forbes researchers recently ranked over 420 U.S. MSAs based on job growth, using employment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Coming in at #4, the Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin, TN MSA experienced job growth of 3.43% in 2015.

Best Cities for Young Workers: Nashville Ranks 5th

Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Credit Sesame compiled their list of top 10 “18-hour cities” (i.e., cities offering a similar lifestyle to a major cities like New York or Chicago, but without the 24/7 activity or high costs. Cities were ranked based on median household income, median rent price, unemployment rate, average student-loan balance and average credit-card balance.

Top Cities for Startup Growth: Nashville Ranks 5th

The rapid growth in Nashville’s entrepreneurial and startup scene bumped it up 4 spots to #5 in The 2016 Kauffman Index. Kauffman looked at three measures to determine rankings: the rate of startup growth (as measured by employment gains); the share of companies that have scaled past the critical 50-employee mark within a decade of operation; and the density of producing 20% annual revenue growth for 3 consecutive years.

Startup growth bodes well for Nashville’s employers, job seekers and the economy as a whole.

NCAR Arts Vibrancy Index: Nashville’s MSA Ranks 2nd

For all its economic promise, Nashville also has a booming, vibrant art scene. In fact, SMU’s National Center for Arts Research (NCAR) ranked the Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin MSA as number two on its arts vibrancy index. NCAR’s rankings were based on: the total number of arts providers in the community; the total nonprofit arts dollars in the area; and level of government support (based on state and federal arts dollars and grants).
