Four Ways to Showcase Your Employer Brand When Hiring

Your company brand is the face you show the world. It affects the public’s perception of you, including potential new employees. It’s important for your branding to be consistent throughout all your communications and interactions. Your brand is built around your company mission, values and culture, and to be consistent, it must be reflected in everything you do, throughout every level of the company.

Show Your Branding at Hiring Time

When it’s time to hire new workers, this is a perfect time to introduce them to your employer brand and culture for the very first time. This way, it will be easier to attract workers who align with the values your culture is built on, helping you improve retention and longevity.

Pieces of your culture you can showcase during the hiring process include:

  • Your company story. Describe how you started, what you’re all about and where you’re going. Tell candidates in the job description and during interviews. Your story should reflect your mission, culture and values.
  • Individual “why” statements. Why do the happy employees at your company love working there? Invite one or two to speak when you interview candidates, and share their “why.” This will help you gauge interest in and connection with your company.
  • Photos. Posting photos of what it’s like to work for your company is powerful—after all, a picture is worth 1,000 words. When your website includes real photos of actual employees—at work, on break, interacting, etc.—it gives new candidates a feel for what it’s like to work for you.
  • Videos. These are also important. Your company might have its own YouTube channel, or you might post videos in your LinkedIn feed where you share snippets into your company culture. This could be a humorous or meaningful video Christmas card, marketing message, recruiting message and more.

Know Who You Are

Of course, the first place to start is knowing exactly what your culture is all about. If you can’t quite put your finger on it, you may want to take a little time to get introspective before you get started sharing your culture and branding with the world.
